Golf

The aim of our golf campaign is to permanently position Kent as a leading golf destination.  Through a partnership approach the Kent courses and Regal golf Coast are being supporting and the partnership is working hard to develop the Kent golf tourism product by connecting tourism activity to broaden the appeal to a wider market.

A new partnership has been formed with GolfBreaks.com, Europe’s largest tour operator, and 25 new golf packages to the county have been developed. A dedicated Kent breaks brochure has been produced and bookings into Kent commenced at Golf Live exhibition at the London Golf Club (20-22 May). The golf break packages are now a key feature on the golf website to ensure visitors to Kent find it easy to book a golfing break. Accommodation investors have benefitted from this initiative, particularly as the new business into Kent can be directly tracked and monitored. The packages are intended to be part of the legacy programme of the Open.

Campaign activity has included:

  • Welcome to Kent event on the eve of The Open, hosted in partnership with Shepherd Neame, attended by 40 national press and key VIP’s
  • 25 press trips and 253 press features contributing towards over £1.4 million AVE of press coverage received for Kent golf (not including The Open itself)
  • Attendance at IGTM with over 30 appointments made to key travel trade to further develop packages to Kent
  • Beyond The Open, the legacy project has included a “Golf and Gastronomy” Press Trip in partnership with Pas-de-Calais, Princes Golf Club and Produced in Kent (attended by 12 international journalists)

We are currently setting up new model of delivery with golf courses to continue golf programme
