Cruise

Co-ordinated by Visit Kent, Cruise is a partnership including Kent County Council, Dover District Council, the Port of Dover, English Heritage, Leeds Castle, Canterbury Cathedral and Kings Ferry.

Aims

  • To increase shore excursion visits to Kent
  • To attract more cruise operators to use the Port of Dover
  • To increase the number of Port of Calls
  • To work in partnership with ground handlers and tour operators to enhance their programmes
  • To increase the economic benefits of the cruise market to Dover and to the rest of Kent

2009 Highlights

  • More than 8,000 Cruise passengers were spoken to at the Dover Cruise welcome desk, compared to 7,000 in 2008 and 4.500 in 2007
  • Ongoing e-marketing strategy to key cruise lines and ground handlers
  • The Visit Kent Cruise Mini-site is now live
  • Sales Missions and Exhibitions to USA and Germany
  • Hosting Fam Trips for Cruise Operators and trade
  • An increase of 15% in cruise business to Canterbury Cathedral
  • An increase in cruise business to Dover Castle from the independent market
  • Cruise consumer brochure produced and distributed
  • Cruise trade pack produced with new themes 
  • Welcome to Kent signage and key locations in Cruise 1 & 2
