Student Involvement
Tourism is an exciting industry, and Visit Kent aims to involve young people as much as possible in its activities to give them a taste of working within the industry, and to support their learning. Many tourism students study modules such as Event Management, Marketing and Customer Service, and taking part in an event such as the Big Day Out gives them valuable experience. Their support of the event not only helps Visit Kent's research objectives, but also the attractions at which they are placed, as they can offer support in delivering customer service on the day, or obtaining vital customer feedback on the attraction itself.
This was third year of the Big Day Out and we were pleased to welcome West Kent College and South Kent College as new participating colleges. They joined Mid Kent, Canterbury and Thanet in covering Kent attractions with supporting customer service and tourism students. The Big Day Out Review meeting was held on 5th June 2009, and the full report is posted on the Big Day Out main pages.
Particular thanks must be given to West Kent College for providing a presentation of all student results at the review meeting, and for Mid Kent College for hosting the meeting.
Visit Kent would welcome approaches from any other Colleges or Universities who would like to help out with the event. Please call Tracey Parker on 01227 862792 or email tracey.parker@visitkent.co.uk
