Student Involvement

Tourism is an exciting industry, and Visit Kent aims to involve young people as much as possible in its activities to give them a taste of working within the industry, and to support their learning. Many tourism students study modules such as Event Management, Marketing and Customer Service, and taking part in an event such as the My Kent Big Weekend gives them valuable experience. Their support of the event not only helps Visit Kent's research objectives, but also the attractions at which they are placed, as they can offer support in delivering customer service on the day, or obtaining vital customer feedback on the attraction itself.

In 2012, we involved students from 7 further education colleges and sixth forms around Kent.  We were pleased to have K College in Ashford and Tonbridge, Mid Kent College at Maidstone and Medway, Thanet College, Herne Bay High School, and the Future Schools Trust in Maidstone.  As in previous years, through the process of liaison and collaboration a number of students have achieved subsequent work placements or paid work at the attractions they were placed at.

Visit Kent would welcome approaches from any other Colleges or Universities who would like to help out with the event. Please call Tracey Parker on 01227 812905 or email tracey.parker@visitkent.co.uk
