If yes, then you might have what it takes to be a Games Time Kent Greeter in 2012!
Kent will be welcoming visitors from across the UK and all over the world during the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Visit Kent has been commissioned by Kent County Council Sports, Leisure & Olympics Service to recruit 300 volunteers to be the face of Kent offering a world-class Kentish welcome to everyone visiting our county.
The Games Time Kent Greeters Programme is an extension of the established Kent Greeters, which is part of the Global Greeter Network, a voluntary association of independent welcoming programmes around the world. The Games Time Kent Greeters will also form part of the national 2012 Ambassadors programme of volunteers.
We are looking for an army of volunteers to offer a warm welcome, share their passion for Kent with residents and visitors to the county and to provide 2012 Games related information from the Kent leg of the Torch Relay, which starts on 17 July 2012, through to the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games on 9 September 2012. We expect volunteers to use their expert knowledge of the local area and encourage visitors and residents to revel in the many celebrations and festivals taking place throughout the year at some of the county’s best-loved attractions and locations as well as visit the classic rural landscapes, enjoy the traditional seaside entertainment, and be absorbed by the county’s ancient history and spectacular gardens, all of which make Kent the Garden of England.
We will be recruiting a combination of Games Time Kent Greeters and Greeter co-ordinators who will be located at key travel hubs including Ebbsfleet Railway Station, at the Paralympic Road Cycling event at Brands Hatch and at key points along the Torch Relay route, particularly the overnight stops in both Maidstone and Dover.
