PRESS RELEASE: 28th February 2018

There are just a few days remaining for Kent residents to be in with the chance of winning free tickets to a host of fantastic days out across the county.

The 12th Kent Big Weekend takes place on 24th and 25th March 2018, and a record breaking 130 attractions across Kent have donated thousands of tickets and activities to this year’s event, including Leeds Castle, Hever Castle, Dreamland Margate, Dover Castle, Port Lympne Reserve, Howletts Wild Animal Park, Wingham Wildlife Park, Kent Life, The Historic Dockyard Chatham, Rochester Cathedral, Ashford Designer Outlet, Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway, Canterbury Cathedral, various vineyards, and several National Trust properties.

Kent residents have until 11th March to visit and bid for any of the 17,000 tickets up for grabs. Experiences on offer include close encounters for animal lovers, brewery and vineyard tours and tastings, high speed boat trips, rounds of golf, river tours, railway adventures, shopping experiences and family activities.

Kent residents can bid for available tickets to as many attractions as they wish. Two tickets per household will be allocated by random ballot after 11th March to the lucky winners (some family tickets will be available as well).

Organised by Visit Kent, the event is designed to encourage residents to rediscover the amazing things to see and do in their home county - and to spread the word about them to their family and friends.

Kent Big Weekend is part of English Tourism Week, organised by VisitEngland, which coincides with the start of the season for many tourism businesses across the country.

Visit Kent Chief Executive Sandra Matthews-Marsh MBE said: “Tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors in the national economy and Kent has so much to offer people. We’re really proud to be supporting our industry with an event dedicated entirely to our local residents.

“You never know what you might win, so make sure to bid for your tickets before 11th March to be in with the chance of enjoying a big weekend out with friends and family!”

The Big Weekend is also supported by Heart FM.
