Who are Go To Places?

Go to places is the umbrella organisation behind Visit Kent and Visit Herts, delivering destination management services across multiple counties and thematic campaigns across the country. Through our extensive network and professional marketing framework, GTP strengthens what we can achieve in Kent and Hertfordshire and unlocks national opportunities.

Who can enter?

The Kent Tourism Awards are open to all tourism businesses in Kent. However, please check your business against the eligibility criteria for each category.

Does it cost to enter?

No, there is no charge to enter the Kent Tourism Awards. Simply complete an application form to enter. Should you become a finalist, some mystery shoppers will visit your business and you are expected to reimburse or wave these costs as per the Terms and Conditions.

Can I enter more than one category?

Yes. We encourage businesses to enter as many categories as they wish as long as they meet the required criteria for each category. However, separate applications must be submitted for each.

How do I submit my application?

Please complete the online application by midnight on the 15th July 2019.

Can I submit a hard copy?

Unfortunately, hard copy submissions will not be considered.

I've already applied for the Beautiful South Awards, should I apply for the Kent Tourism Awards too?

Yes. By entering the Kent Tourism Awards, businesses get another chance to benchmark themselves against other Kent based businesses and have a chance to submit a better application which could see them be more successful.

What are we looking for?

We are looking to award businesses who can demonstrate an innovative approach in delivering an exceptional and outstanding consumer experience. The judging will be based on the application form, your website (viewed on desktop, mobile and tablet), and any other online presence that you might have, including social media. The judges will also look at your online customer reviews and if you are a finalist your business will be mystery shopped.

Am I eligible to enter?

We All eligibility criteria are detailed in the application forms.

When is the application deadline?

The closing date for receipts of applications is at midnight on the 15th July 2019.

How long does it take to complete each application?

We worked closely with VisitEngland to keep the form short and simple to ensure it should not take too long to complete. There are a maximum word counts for each answer.

Is the information in the application confidential?

Yes. Only the organisers and judges will have access to your application form and any supporting documentation. However, you should be aware that if you become a finalist, the judges’ comments about the quality of your business may be used as part of the script at any awards presentation. Your application will also be available to VisitEngland should you become a finalist and opt to go through to the national awards.

When do I find out if I've been shortlisted?

If you have been shortlisted, you will be notified between the 25th and the 30th July 2019.

Will I be invited to the awards ceremony?

All finalists will be sent an invitation to book tickets to the awards ceremony.

If I can not attend the awards ceremony, what shall I do?

If you cannot attend the ceremony, you may nominate someone to attend on your behalf.

Can I expect feedback on my application?

Each application will receive some feedback after the first round of judging and finalists will have additional feedback based on the mystery shopping element of the judging.
