Visit Kent Tourism Awards 2017


The Kent Tourism Awards, in association with Go To Places, is a consumer facing, annual awards scheme for tourism businesses in Kent.

The scheme is all about motivating tourism businesses to create compelling experiences and adopt best practice. It rewards exceptional standard of customer service and outstanding overall visitor experiences.

Following an initial round of judging by an expert panel, the winners will be decided by a consumer vote which will be supported by an extensive digital marketing campaign and our Media Partner Heart Kent. Eligible winners will be able to enter the national Awards for Excellence scheme. 

Why enter?

  • Winners will get a chance to go forward to the national Awards for Excellence operated by Visit England (subject to Visit England eligibility criteria).
  • Shortlisted businesses will benefit from a dedicated Visit Kent social media and PR campaign that will be used to encourage public voting.
  • Award winners and finalists gain a competitive edge through recognition of their commitment to excellence and quality standards.

How to enter?

To enter one of the following categories, you simply need to complete one of the short entry forms below and return it to by 5pm on 8th September 2017. You can enter more than one category providing you meet the eligibility criteria listed on each form but different forms must be completed for each.

Ultimate Tourism Experience of the Year (to include events, festivals, shopping, art/cultur

  • Download the forms by clicking on the name of the award.
  • Check your business against the eligibility criteria. 
  • Complete the short form and answer all questions as fully as possible within the word limit
  • Send the completed forms to by 5pm on 8th September 2017.
  • An external judging panel comprising independent and impartial industry representation will narrow this down to a shortlist for each category using the criteria outlined below.
  • Three businesses from each category will be shortlisted.
  • You will be notified if your business has been shortlisted by 15th September 2017.
  • An online public vote will then decide the overall winner (incentivised through a competition prize).
  • All finalists will be invited to an awards ceremony where the winners will be announced.

Judging criteria:

The business should be able to demonstrate an innovative approach in delivering an exceptional and outstanding consumer experience.

The judging will be based on the application form, your website (viewed on desktop, mobile and tablet), and any other online presence that you might have, including social media. The judges will also look at your online customer reviews.
